LUVCAT Live at The George Tavern Hosted by Marezine. It won't be long before many more than a handful of enthusiastic friends and family are belting out these bangers along with Sophie of Luvcat. Seen here playing a beautiful acoustic set on a slightly honky tonk piano in a glorious Georgian east end Boozer, accompanied by Jack on bass. Proud mum and dad in the audience, and some very refreshed...

Make BCNR post-punk again!!!
I'm sorry, Sorry!
Really interesting act, cool soundscapes. The singer looks like an Olympic athlete and the other bandmembers.... don't. Thanks!
Really fantastic. Also the obligatory, "step on me, mommy."
I mean, at times it's batshit, but at the same time, fking mesmerizing, fking loved it :D <3
That’s a good recipe in my book.
If it was a cocktail, would you drink it?
now they are all confident and dancing while playing and helping out with vocals....Huge improvement
And they have lots more room to play in.
Another great band. Darn - If only I'd known. I was at the Troubadour same night... wish I was here for this one now. I did catch Zimmer90 at the Windmill just a few days before this one. I'll be looking out for these new generation Blitz Kids xx Keep up the stirling work, Lou.
Been watching these for a couple of years or more. They’ve been quiet recently, but this was an emphatic return. Really upped the entire performance.
@@LouSmith Yes, compelling. And I like the Lillian Gish-Weimar Republic look xx
@@LouSmith ... and another one set for greatness, I think. You sure know how to pick 'em
Such a strong look. Amazonian.
Yeah. There’s a good stream of talent atm. I just focus on what I love, and that’s finding resonance with others too, so I’m a happy bunny.
this is the best thing that happened to music since the brave little abacus
That’s a strong claim.
@@LouSmith i stand by it tho.. geordie greep and his swing boys are truely a force to be reckoned with
Ya me hacía falta
ahora estás más alto?
Ronnie is a great tune. Best song of the year after favourite From Fontaines DC. Last dinner party sinner, cesear. Idles Grace.
Ronnie is a belter!
@@LouSmith sure it is.
I want to Add english teacher. The world biggest paving slab. This one and last dinner party prelude are 2 of my favourite albums of the year so far.
@niallq8447 i missed out on English teacher. I’ll check them out. Cheers. TLDP defo.
@@LouSmith great band. Lily Fontaine is a good vocalist.
Both beautiful and heartbreaking in the best way possible
Angus will be thrilled at that.
I used to go to college the same time as Saul studying music, he used to always pike a fag off of me and I was obliged because I just wanted some kind of human contact 😢
The bass player on guitar and the guitar player on piano--super cool! Thanks!
I’ve seem Jack on guitar more often than bass, so that’s normal, Sophie on piano was new for me though. Very cool, slightly honky.
Fantastic! Sounds like the invisible keyboard player joined this band again (maybe they're using some cool effects pedal), anyway thank you sir!
Yeah. Must just be the synth angels interjecting.
Had I known that insecure men live at Moth Club, I would have visited the venue a lot sooner.
A viewer with material! Woo!
shank on the vocals
Oh yes. We bring you only the best.
1 year later, still returning to this album more than almost any other. Thank you Lou, keep up the great work!
Thanks. Yes, my stats corroborate that. It’s regularly rating top five of my vids over time. It may well live to see an official release through Domino too one day, though they’re looking for another insecure men album first, then release this subsequently.
I saw Sulk only last Thursday supporting Lambrini Girls @ the Scala. Very well received! ❤
Yup. They’ve got a good thing going. Haven’t seen the current line up.
This is an A Void video mind.
@@LouSmith Hello, sir, late reply like the Americans in previous world war engagements. Sulk still have the girl singer, a lead guitarist dressed in crushed velvet 70s suit stick thin - looks the part, a black bass player and the drummer I can't remember. Very good.
@@CarloRoberto-qs7oi I think Lily and Eliot seem to be the core of Sulk, though they've changed it around a bit since I first saw them.
@@LouSmith Those State51 Factory videos of up & coming bands are pretty awesome. Getting a lot of info there, too. So much for me to catch up on after decades of 'retro' sounds...
That is what you call a proper night out ! , the real sound of South London ! Lovely
Hey Ed. Hope you’re having a lovely time. We’ll save some for you.
Captain Beefheart meets the Incredible String Band. Very interesting outfit & sound. How did you do the walk through the crowd shot at the start without the punters getting annoyed or blocking you? Because that's what they would do to me, that's for sure!
They’re pretty out there this Bishopskin. As for the opening shot, I realised I’d missed my cue to be front of stage, andI love that song, so decided to film the approach. Most people in the windmill know me, and facilitate what I’m doing, and I gently tapped some shoulders to ease my passage. I wouldn’t get away with it at an away game.
teeeeeeth
It’s ’kin dental mate.
Matador is a killer
It certainly is. Alchemy is great too, and I love her song He's my Man. Just the right blend of sweetness and darkness in Sophie's lyrics
Great performance. They should leave a watergun on the stage somewhere so the artists can douse the talkers
Yeah. Shame about the talkers. Tbf it was about the first warm night we’d had and the yard outside was full of excited folk, oblivious to the show unfolding inside. Most folk in the room were pretty schtum apart from the joiner ins 😅
Wow, this was tremendously fantastic. I've watched a set or two of theirs on the channel before that I liked, but this is really incredible.
Yes, really lovely intimate set.
Wow. Pretty solid sound, great material. Looking forward to see how all this... potential... with blow our minds as they develop. Tour ready, I'd say. I'm in love with Sophie, as I suspect most are. Hard to project stage prescence (UK spelling?) on a small stage, but she has a star quality (the good kind of star) about her.
Yeah. They’re definitely ready to tour. Adam and Fells will be finishing up their current tour with Fat white family tonight, so maybe they’ll concentrate more on Y again after that. Sophie is wonderful, and brings glamorous slightly unhinged brilliance in her lyrics and delivery. Watch this space for the unfolding story.
Nice touch with the POV and the teeth.
Thanks Mike. Did you watch the promo video? The teeth were a device we used in the dentist scene with brother Aaron. Link is in the description.
Song title at 20:00?? Hope it is in the new album! What a banger!?? 😮
2024 NZ watching AGAIN. So great thanks.
Thanks Jo. I have other songs from this session. It may be time to unleash them.
Goat
Woo!
I’ve just come across Country Teasers, I’m loving what I’m hearing so far. So cool to see some of Ben on your channel. I cant help but wonder if the Fat Whites were inspired by them earlier on in their career.
Absolutely they were. I don’t think they hid the fact that CT were a major influence on them. There are a couple of clips here. Not as many as he deserves mind. I’ve seen him quite a few times more. He has regular residencies at the Windmill if you’re in London.
@@LouSmith that’s very cool! I’ve been a big fat whites ever since the first time I saw them in 2015. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find out about CT and Ben Wallers. I’d love to come and see the man in action, but alas, I live in Leeds. Hopefully one day!
@@samdrury2896 You live in Leeds, but you're not out seeing FWF play? I wish I could have been there. Leeds is my home town btw.
@@LouSmith I wasn’t able to go tonight unfortunately. Gutted! Always next time, I guess (I hope)
@@samdrury2896 Yeah, let's hope. Shame though. Were you there the last time they played there?
Am I right in saying the bloke on sax is in Pyongyang too?
You are right in saying that, yes. Harry. He’s got so good on sax these days. I have a Pyongyang video awaiting publication actually, pending possible name change.
@@LouSmith Ooh, lovely. Caught them last month at the Windmill. Formal Sppeedwear were playing that night too - you must try and record them the next time they’re in London !
@DOGSPAWN thanks for the tip. I wonder where I was that night. I usually go to see Y at the Windmill wherever possible.
Great Proggy sound - they'd be on Vertigo, the Dawn Label or Deram Nova if it was 1970 xx
Haha. If only. I’d be seven in 1970 They are great though.
I think we are the same age or thereabouts(!) I was down the Windmill last night to see German synth outfit - Zimmer90 - very good.
@@CarloRoberto-qs7oi Nice. I'll keep an ear out for them. I'm a '63 model. :)
@@LouSmith I'm just a year older! Nice to know that our age group can still mix it with the kids in the hall. I feel an invisible glass barrier & the younger generation at gigs these days...
@@CarloRoberto-qs7oi Yeah. I guess I forgot to grow old. I have a teenage daughter, and friends in all age ranges, but the times they are a changing, and fast, and people are polarising along all sorts of lines. That's why I love and cherish the music community around the Windmill, the George, and other grass roots venues, as it's very inclusive and supporting.
Belle découverte. Merci
Merci. Oui, très belle.
Thank you Lou. Y are a wild ride and i like it
Yay! Glad to hear it.
First O now Y
Haha. OY! This is Y’s third name too.
wow! great musicians! great music!
Addictive too!
Love them
Yup! Me too.
Awesome! Has this band released any music? Would love to here more.
There is one release so far ytheband.bandcamp.com/track/y Adam (on mostly guitar here) also plays guitar with Fat White Family, as has the drummer, Fells, so have been busy touring with them recently, but every time they hit the stage, they have new songs, or have reworked old ones to get them sounding super tight, and Sophie is growing in confidence as a singer. I'd love to see them do well.
the best
You know it. Were you at that one?
@@LouSmithunfortunately not, i’m only 17 so i’m only ever at events that i’m photographing or my friends are playing and i get there early, nasos is too good at his job to let me slip through the cracks unfortunately, 3 more months!
@willyoufade i didn’t even think about that. Fair play, you still get to see plenty. Three months indeed.
This band is incredible. Thanks, Lou, for filming and posting this!
Thanks so much Dave. I have nothing but love for this band. They’re so good. 😊
